If you are an entertainer, performer, athlete, or established and well-known professional in a certain field, you may apply for a visa to perform temporary work in the United States if you are currently abroad.
O Visa - This visa is often given to individuals who work in the field of education, arts, athletics, science, or related areas. For example, this may include a chef (defined as the arts), a potential NBA recruit, or even a leading professor in a distinct field. Applicants must be able to demonstrate their extraordinary ability in their, including national/international acclaim. The Citizenship and Immigration Service will relay on the advisory opinion from the related union regarding the applicant's abilities. If granted, the initial maximum time is three years, however, unlimited 1-year extensions may be granted to an O-1 visa holder.
P Visa - This visa can be granted to performers in a group, athletes on a team, teachers, coaches, or other unique and acclaimed performers coming to the U.S. for work purposes. The intention of the visa is to allow the performer to stay for a single performance, event, or game, however, this can be defined further as a season or contract. You may be allowed to stay for up to a full year, while athletes are granted up to five years.
